Importing goods from Turkey involves preparing the appropriate shipping documents required for customs clearance. The list of documents depends primarily on the type of goods being transported and looks slightly different in each case.
For the import process to run smoothly, the following documents must be prepared:
- commercial invoice – the basic document confirming the transaction and containing all the essential information about the goods purchased.
- consignment note – the transport document containing the details of the carriage, including the sender and consignee.
- packing list – mandatory if the invoice does not serve as a specification. It allows the contents of the shipment to be identified, which is extremely important during clearance.
- CE declaration of conformity – for products that must meet EU standards, this document confirms their compliance with the requirements.
- A.TR movement certificate – confirms that the goods are in free circulation in the EU or Turkey and entitles industrial goods covered by the customs union to duty exemption. Proof of origin is a separate document – a certificate of origin (COO) or EUR.1.
- certificate of raw material composition – required for certain products, especially foodstuffs.
