Transport Turkey

KONTUR Polska organises road transport of goods between Poland and Turkey – full truckload (FTL), groupage (LTL) and ADR, for both import and export. We have our own fleet of 11 jumbo sets with a capacity of 120 m³, holding up to 38 euro pallets and 22 tonnes of cargo. We run our own customs agency and bonded warehouses at both ends of the route – in Czechowice-Dziedzice and in Istanbul. Transit time is 5 to 10 working days, and in the door-to-door system we deliver in as little as 6 calendar days.

Groupage lines for imports from Turkey run daily. Exports from Poland to Turkey run at least once a week, on Fridays. Full-truckload transports are organised on an ongoing basis, on individually agreed dates.

Complete SENT handling for imports of footwear and textiles from Turkey to Poland

What do we use to carry goods to and from Turkey?

The KONTUR Polska fleet consists of 11 of our own jumbo sets with a capacity of 120 m³ each. A standard semi-trailer has 83 m³, so we have around 45% more loading space. Each set holds up to 38 euro pallets with a payload of up to 22 tonnes.

This difference concerns volume, not permissible weight – the advantage is greatest for light, bulky goods: textiles, furniture, packaging, plastic products. With such cargo, one jumbo set replaces a transport that would require two runs with a standard semi-trailer, or leaving part of the goods with the shipper.

Transport Poland-Turkey-Poland

Turkey is one of Poland’s most important trading partners among the countries of the Middle East. If you run an international business and are involved in importing goods from Turkey to Poland, you certainly realise how important smooth and efficient delivery of goods is. It is therefore worth using a professional forwarding company that will provide you not only with safe import from Turkey, but also savings in time, stress and money.

Our company specialises in comprehensive transport and forwarding services on the Poland-Turkey-Poland route, offering solutions tailored to the needs of both small and large businesses. We provide complete organisation of the carriage – from collection of goods at the manufacturer, through customs handling and road transport, to delivery of the shipment to its destination in Poland. Thanks to many years of experience, a modern fleet and proven partners in Turkey, we carry goods with our own fleet, with vehicle monitoring throughout the transport and a single shipment coordinator running the order from collection to delivery. By choosing us, you gain a reliable business partner who will take care of a dependable flow of goods between Poland and Turkey.

Requirements and formalities for transport to Turkey

Because Turkey is not a member of the European Union, every shipment of goods requires full customs clearance – on both the export and the import side. At the same time, thanks to the EU-Turkey customs union, goods in free circulation in the EU or Turkey can be transported without additional customs duties.

The key to smooth clearance is complete and consistent documentation. Turkish customs authorities check in detail that the data on all documents match – invoice numbers, net and gross weight, cargo description and country of origin must be identical on every one of them.

CMR consignment note

The basic document for the journey – required at every stage of carriage and when crossing the border

Commercial invoice

Details of the sender and consignee, value of the goods and delivery terms needed to settle customs duty

Packing list

Detailed packing list: quantity, weight, method of packing and marking of the shipment

Certificates

Certificates of origin and conformity, CE certificates and ADR documents for regulated goods

Important: additional regulations apply to foodstuffs, chemicals, machinery and household appliances. These goods require declarations of conformity and, where necessary, CE marking. Incomplete documentation can result in heavy fines and the cargo being detained.

All the key information

Transport to and from Turkey requires proper planning, because it involves not only choosing the right mode of transport, but also preparing documents, customs clearance and control of the entire logistics process. The most commonly chosen solution is road transport, which combines fast delivery times, flexibility and the ability to carry out LTL groupage, FTL full-truckload and specialised shipments, including ADR. For import and export, documents such as the commercial invoice, packing list, CMR, EX-1 and A.TR – which can reduce or eliminate duty on industrial goods – are of key importance. An experienced logistics partner helps you avoid formal errors, choose the optimal route, keep the cargo safe and ensure on-time door-to-door delivery.

Why use our transport services?

We are a transport company with many years of experience which, after more than a decade of working with Turkish partners, knows the specifics of Turkey itself, Turkish businesses and all customs and tax regulations inside out.

Thanks to regular runs to the Middle East we can offer a full package of logistics services of the highest standard at an attractive price.

Documents and customs formalities for transport to and from Turkey

Basic documents required for clearance

When organising the carriage of cargo between Poland and Turkey, a set of documents must be prepared to allow the goods to be legally exported and imported. These most often include:

Commercial invoice – the document confirming the sale and setting out the terms of the transaction.

Packing list – a detailed list of the contents of the shipment, including gross/net weight, number of packages and their type; the list is not required if this data is already included in the invoice.

International CMR consignment note – proof that the goods have been accepted for carriage and the document governing the terms of transport.

How customs clearance works

The shipper is responsible for preparing the goods for export and for the full set of export formalities. For the customs agency to carry out clearance, the following are required:

Customs power of attorney – the document that officially allows the agency to represent the customer before the customs office.

EORI number – the European identifier for businesses used in international trade.

Tax identification number (NIP)

Customs services offered by Kontur Polska

The Kontur Polska customs agency provides full handling of customs processes. This includes, among others:

Export customs clearance based on the customer’s documentation (invoice with translation and packing list).

Issuing the A.TR movement certificate, which confirms that the goods are in free circulation in the EU or Turkey and entitles industrial goods covered by the EU-Turkey customs union to duty exemption.

Issuing the Certificate of Origin (COO) – prepared at the consignee’s request or when required by the importing country.

Standard procedures

Export customs clearance – the basic procedure for exporting goods outside the European Union.

Special procedures

Inward processing – allows goods from outside the EU to be imported for processing and re-export without paying full customs duties.

Outward processing – allows goods to be temporarily exported from the EU for processing or repair outside the Union.

Temporary admission procedure – used for the temporary export or import of goods, e.g. samples, trade fair equipment or machinery.

To ensure punctual and continuous deliveries, it is crucial to choose an experienced logistics partner who knows the realities of this market. Professionally organised road transport from Turkey to Poland guarantees safe carriage of goods, minimises the risk of delays and optimises costs. Freight forwarding Turkey

Transport and forwarding to/from Turkey are closely related but refer to different aspects of logistics. Transport refers to the physical movement of goods from one place to another, whether by road, water, air or rail. Forwarding, on the other hand, is the process of managing and organising the transport of goods. The forwarder (i.e. the forwarding company) is the intermediary between the customer and the transport companies. Its job is to ensure that the goods are moved from point A to point B efficiently, safely and in line with the customer’s requirements. Forwarders also handle documentation, insurance, customs procedures and shipment tracking.

We also provide international transport to Bulgaria and Greece.

We handle orders of all sizes – from groupage shipments to full truckloads (FTL) – so every customer can plan their deliveries individually.

We specialise in both groupage (LTL) and full-truckload (FTL) shipments, providing regular and punctual runs on the Poland-Turkey-Poland route. SENT extension from March 2026

From March 2026 the list of goods subject to mandatory reporting in the Electronic Transport Supervision System (SENT) has been extended. The new categories are clothing articles and accessories, used clothing and footwear. Companies importing these goods from Turkey must register the carriage in the SENT system before it begins. Kontur Polska handles SENT declarations in full as part of its forwarding services.

Frequently asked questions

5 to 10 working days, depending on the place of loading and the place of delivery. In the door-to-door system we deliver in as little as 6 calendar days. Transit time is mainly affected by the loading location in Turkey, the delivery location in Poland and the situation at the border crossing.

There is no single rate – the price depends on the weight and volume of the goods, the route and the type of service. The quote is affected by: the number of pallets or loading metres, weight, collection and delivery locations, type of goods, scope of customs handling and the delivery date. We prepare each quote individually – the more precise the shipment parameters you provide, the faster you will receive it.

No. We offer groupage transport (LTL), where you pay only for the loading space you use. A whole truck (FTL) only makes sense for larger consignments or when you want the goods carried without transhipment. For smaller shipments, groupage is usually the cheaper option.

Groupage lines for imports from Turkey run daily. For exports from Poland to Turkey, departures take place at least once a week, every Friday. Full-truckload transports are organised on an ongoing basis, on a date agreed individually with the customer.

Yes. The volume advantage is greatest for light, bulky goods – textiles, furniture, packaging or plastic products.

Yes. We organise the entire process: collection from the manufacturer in Turkey, export clearance, transport, import clearance and delivery to any address in Poland. You don’t have to coordinate several parties – the whole job is run by a single shipment coordinator, and the vehicle is monitored throughout the journey.

Yes. In our bonded warehouse in Istanbul we consolidate shipments from different shippers into a single delivery. This is a solution for companies buying from several manufacturers at once – instead of several separate transports, you pay for one.

We serve the entire territory of Turkey, including smaller towns. We most often carry out transports to and from: Istanbul, Bursa, Gebze, Ankara, Sakarya, Izmir, Konya, Antalya, Adana, Gaziantep, Tekirdağ, Manisa, Mersin, Hatay, Eskişehir, Kayseri, Kahramanmaraş, Çerkezköy and Silivri.

The basic set is the commercial invoice, packing list and international CMR consignment note. In addition there are customs documents: EX-1 for export from the EU and the A.TR certificate, which allows duty to be avoided on industrial goods. Some goods also require certificates of origin, declarations of conformity or CE marking – this applies, among others, to foodstuffs, chemicals, machinery and household appliances.

Practical note: Turkish customs authorities compare the data across documents in detail. Invoice numbers, net and gross weight, cargo description and country of origin must be identical on each of them – a discrepancy is the most common reason for clearance being held up.

A.TR is a customs document confirming that goods are in free circulation in the European Union or Turkey. Thanks to the EU-Turkey customs union, it allows industrial goods to be exempted from duty. It is not proof of origin – that function is performed by EUR.1 certificates or the Certificate of Origin (COO), required among others for agricultural products and coal and steel products, which are not covered by the customs union. We issue both types of document through our customs agency.

We do. We run our own customs agency in Czechowice-Dziedzice, so transport and clearance are handled by a single provider. We handle export and import clearance, customs transfers within the EU, A.TR registration, COO certificates of origin and TIR and ATA carnets. We also carry out special procedures: inward and outward processing and temporary admission – the latter is used when shipping samples, trade fair equipment or machinery exported for a set period.

From March 2026, mandatory reporting in the SENT system covers, among others, clothing articles and accessories, used clothing and footwear. If you import these categories from Turkey, the carriage must be registered in the system before it begins. We handle SENT declarations as part of our forwarding service – you don’t have to do it yourself.

Yes. We hold permits for the transport of dangerous goods in accordance with ADR regulations. For such cargo, send us the ADR class and safety data sheet at the enquiry stage – the choice of vehicle and route depends on it.

Yes, we handle both loose cargo and oversized loads. For non-standard loads, feasibility depends on the dimensions and weight – it is best to send them with your enquiry so that we can confirm the choice of vehicle straight away.

Send us the shipment parameters: collection and delivery locations, number of pallets or dimensions, weight, type of goods and the planned ready date. On this basis we will prepare a quote and propose a date. If you also need customs handling, we will additionally ask for your EORI number, tax ID (NIP) and a customs power of attorney allowing us to represent you before the customs office.
