TIR is an international transit system that allows goods to be carried across the borders of several countries without full customs clearance in each of them. The system operates on the basis of uniform rules and a customs guarantee recognised by all countries party to the TIR Convention.
Carriage under the TIR system uses the TIR carnet, which simplifies customs procedures and speeds up the international transport of goods.
