Groupage transport is a type of transport in which small consignments of goods from different shippers are carried together. The shipments are combined into a single consolidated load and carried by one means of transport, usually in the part-load formula, where the vehicle’s loading space is shared by several shippers.
On arrival at the distribution point, the goods are separated and delivered to the end recipients. This method of transport reduces costs and makes efficient use of loading space.
Groupage transport is most often carried out as road transport, which allows flexible planning of routes and deliveries.
