Incoterms are international trade rules defining the terms of delivery of goods in domestic and international trade. These rules specify the division of obligations, costs and risk between the seller and the buyer at each stage of carriage.

Incoterms do not govern the sales contract itself or the mode of transport, but they affect, among other things, the allocation of risk and the carrier’s liability at each stage of delivery.
